Education & History in Highlands
Paul has a long history with the community of Highlands. His family moved to the area when he was a boy in 1965, and he has spent most of his life contributing to the vibrant and unique community. His hands-on experience in construction and development began in high school and laid the foundation for decades of professional relationships and collaborations in the field.
In 1978, Paul earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Clemson University, followed by six years of apprenticeship under architect Dennis DeWolf (MArch) to complete his professional training. Upon receiving his architectural license in North Carolina, he partnered with DeWolf for two years before founding Paul Schmitt Architectural Design Studio, PLLC in 1998.
